The Città universitaria was designed by a group of architects coordinated by Marcello Piacentini and inaugurated in 1935, in the San Lorenzo district (Sapienza University of Rome). Faculties, offices, libraries and museums share the campus.
One of them is the Biblioteca Universitaria Alessandrina, which moved into the Rettorato building in 1935. According to the Italian Ministry of Culture it opens Monday to Friday from 8:30 to 19:15, without a midday break and without booking, and has a reading room where you can study with your own books. Policlinico Umberto I is one of Sapienza’s two university hospitals, with Sant’Andrea.
La Lupa’s kitchen stays open from 12:00 to 23:00 without a break: lunch at 3 pm after an oral exam that ran late, or an early dinner before the train home. A Roman pasta is the simplest meal: cacio e pepe, amatriciana or carbonara.
