Abbacchio a scottadito
Lamb · rosemary · potatoes
Grilled lamb chops, rosemary and potatoes: abbacchio a scottadito is the Roman feast-day main course. At La Lupa it is on the menu and one of the mains in the €30 La Lupa set menu.

In Rome young lamb is called abbacchio. “A scottadito” means “finger-burning”: the chops come to the table so hot they burn your fingers, because you eat them by hand straight off the grill. It is the main course of Roman Sundays and holidays, served with potatoes.
On La Lupa’s menu abbacchio a scottadito comes with rosemary and potatoes. Order it à la carte or as one of the two main-course choices in the €30-per-person La Lupa menu, alongside saltimbocca.
A full Roman meal starts with a starter such as supplì or fried courgette flowers, then a pasta: carbonara, amatriciana, cacio e pepe or gricia. To finish, tiramisù or panna cotta.
